The Carolina Panthers have agreed to trade veteran quarterback Andy Dalton to the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. In exchange for the three-time Pro Bowler, Philadelphia is sending a 2027 seventh-round draft pick to Carolina.
Dalton joins the Eagles to provide experienced depth behind franchise starter Jalen Hurts. The 36-year-old veteran spent the 2023 season with the Panthers, primarily serving as a mentor and backup to 2023 first-overall pick Bryce Young. During his lone season in Charlotte, Dalton appeared in three games, making one start where he threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns.
Throughout his 13-year NFL career, Dalton has played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, and New Orleans Saints before his stint with the Panthers. He has accumulated over 38,000 passing yards and 246 touchdowns across 170 career games. This move reinforces the Eagles roster with a proven winner as they look to bolster their depth for the upcoming season.
