The Baltimore Ravens are officially naming former defensive standout and long-time team leader Anthony Levine Sr. as the franchise's new special teams coach, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Levine, affectionately nicknamed "Co-Cap" by teammates and fans during his playing tenure, has most recently served as Baltimore’s assistant special teams coach. With this promotion, he earns the full title and will lead the unit under the direction of Jesse Minter.
The move marks a significant milestone in Levine's coaching career, which began immediately following his retirement from the NFL. Levine spent a decade on the Ravens' active roster as a versatile defensive back and a premier special teams ace, appearing in 146 games for the organization. His transition from the field to the sidelines has been swift, moving from a player-coach role to assistant, and now to the primary coaching position for the phase of the game where he made his greatest impact as a player.
Levine was a key member of the Ravens' Super Bowl XLVII championship team and was long considered the heartbeat of the locker room. His appointment ensures continuity within a Ravens special teams unit that has historically been among the most efficient in the league.
