This update is a brief. We are expanding coverage with additional context and analysis as more details become available.

The Baltimore Ravens are hiring Lou Esposito as the team's new defensive line coach, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.

Esposito joins the Ravens coaching staff after a very brief tenure at the University of Michigan. He had recently accepted the defensive line coaching position with the Wolverines earlier this offseason before deciding to make the jump to the NFL ranks under head coach John Harbaugh.

The move was also confirmed by Adam Schefter of ESPN. Prior to his short stint at Michigan, Lou Esposito was a long-time fixture at Western Michigan, where he served as the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. His experience building stout defensive fronts is expected to be a key asset for a Baltimore Ravens defense that traditionally prides itself on physical play at the line of scrimmage.

The hiring fills a critical role on the Ravens' defensive staff as they look to maintain their status as one of the league's premier units following several staff departures this winter. Further details regarding the official start date have not yet been released.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
