Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is being evaluated for a concussion, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The injury occurred during game action, forcing the sophomore receiver to the sideline to undergo the NFL's mandatory concussion protocol. Smith-Njigba has been a key component of the Seahawks passing attack this season, and his absence would leave a significant void in the receiving corps alongside DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
The team has not yet provided an official update on his return status for the remainder of the contest. If diagnosed with a concussion, the former first-round pick out of Ohio State will need to clear the league's five-step return-to-participation protocol before returning to the field for future games.
The Seahawks medical staff will continue to monitor the situation as Smith-Njigba undergoes further testing. He has emerged as a reliable target for quarterback Geno Smith this year, making his health a primary concern for the Seattle offense moving forward.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
