The New York Islanders have signed forward Matias Maccelli to a one-year contract worth $2.25 million, according to Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic.
The agreement secures the 23-year-old playmaker for the upcoming season following a highly productive stint with the Arizona Coyotes franchise. Maccelli appeared in all 82 games last season, recording 14 goals and 43 assists for 57 points. His arrival provides the Islanders with a significant boost to their middle-six forward group and adds a creative element to their power-play units.
Since entering the league, Maccelli has established himself as one of the NHL's premier young passers. He finished fourth in Calder Trophy voting in 2023 after a 49-point rookie season and has continued to develop into a reliable offensive threat.
