The New York Rangers have acquired goaltender Joonas Korpisalo from the Boston Bruins in exchange for Kalle Vaisanen and a 2028 fourth-round draft pick, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet (@FriedgeHNIC).

The move provides the Rangers with additional veteran experience in the crease. Korpisalo, 30, has appeared in over 270 NHL games throughout his career, having spent time with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Los Angeles Kings, Ottawa Senators, and most recently the Bruins organization. He joins a Rangers squad looking to solidify their depth between the pipes behind their established starters.

In return, the Boston Bruins receive Kalle Vaisanen, a 21-year-old Finnish forward prospect. Vaisanen was originally selected by the Rangers in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft and has been developing his game in the Finnish Liiga. Along with the young prospect, Boston secures a 2028 fourth-round selection to bolster their future draft capital.

This trade marks a notable transaction between the two Original Six rivals as they adjust their rosters. No immediate information was provided regarding potential salary retention in the deal. The transaction is expected to be finalized pending league approval.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
