The Dallas Stars have traded forward Mavrik Bourque and defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin to the Nashville Predators in exchange for two future draft picks, according to @PierreVLeBrun.
In exchange for the two skaters, the Stars receive Nashville’s own second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft and a third-round selection in the 2028 NHL Draft, which was originally owned by the Vegas Golden Knights.
Bourque, 22, was a first-round pick by Dallas in 2020 and has been one of the most highly-touted prospects in the system, recently coming off a standout season in the AHL where he led the league in scoring. Lyubushkin, a veteran physical defenseman, joins the Predators blueline to provide veteran stability and a right-handed shot.
The trade represents a significant move between Central Division rivals. For the Stars, the deal recoups future assets, while the Predators add a high-ceiling young forward and defensive depth to their current roster. No salary retention was immediately reported as part of the transaction.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
