The Denver Broncos are signing former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Mike Woods, according to a report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Woods joins the Denver roster after a successful tryout during the team’s rookie minicamp this past weekend.
Mike Woods, 24, was originally selected by the Browns in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma. During his rookie campaign, he appeared in 10 games, recording five receptions for 45 yards and providing depth on special teams. However, his career trajectory was interrupted in April 2023 when he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during an offseason workout. The injury forced him to miss the entire 2023 season on the non-football injury list.
By signing Woods, the Broncos add a young, athletic target to a receiving corps that is currently being reshaped under head coach Sean Payton. Woods will now have the opportunity to compete for a permanent roster spot during the team's upcoming Organized Team Activities (OTAs) and training camp. He joins a room that includes veterans like Courtland Sutton and Josh Reynolds, as well as recent draft picks Troy Franklin and Devaughn Vele.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
