Former Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku is officially moving on, agreeing to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers worth up to $8 million, per @RapSheet.
The signing marks the end of a nine-year tenure in Cleveland for the veteran tight end. Drafted by the franchise in the first round in 2017, Njoku recorded 384 receptions and 34 touchdowns during his time with the Browns. He had previously shared a farewell message to the city and organization in February after requesting his release earlier this offseason.
In Los Angeles, Njoku joins a Chargers roster looking to bolster its receiving options for quarterback Justin Herbert. Njoku is coming off an injury-shortened 2025 season where he appeared in 12 games, but he remains a high-upside veteran target who earned Pro Bowl honors as recently as 2023.
The Browns have already begun transitioning at the position, with rookie Harold Fannin Jr. taking over as the primary receiving threat following a breakout 2025 campaign. Njoku had also reportedly visited the Baltimore Ravens during the free agency period before reaching terms with Los Angeles on Monday morning.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
