The NFL has officially announced that the Dallas Cowboys will travel to face the New York Giants for the first Sunday Night Football game of the 2026 season.
The Week 1 rivalry matchup is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13, at MetLife Stadium, with kickoff set for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. This primetime clash marks the 13th time the two franchises have met to open a season, with Dallas holding a dominant 11-1 record in those previous contests.
The game serves as the highly anticipated Giants debut for head coach John Harbaugh, who joined the organization this offseason following a storied 18-year tenure with the Baltimore Ravens. On the field, the matchup highlights a marquee quarterback battle featuring veteran Dak Prescott against second-year Giants starter Jaxson Dart.
While the full 2026 NFL schedule is not set to be released until Thursday, May 14, the league has begun unveiling marquee games for the opening weekend. According to the NFL, the Cowboys are also scheduled to face the Ravens in Week 3 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This will mark the league's return to South America following the successful 2024 regular-season debut in São Paulo.
